KEVOS® partnered with leading engineering consultancy L.E. Otten to deliver a comprehensive maintenance documentation package for OneSteel Whyalla's blast furnace operations — one of Australia's most demanding heavy-industrial environments.

**The Challenge.** Blast furnace maintenance, including the replacement of refractory bricks and liners, is a high-risk, high-precision undertaking. OneSteel required clear, technically accurate documentation that maintenance crews could trust to execute complex shutdown tasks safely, efficiently, and without ambiguity.

**Our Approach.** KEVOS® combined deep technical drafting expertise with close collaboration alongside on-site maintenance personnel and L.E. Otten's engineering team. By immersing in the operational realities of the furnace — its components, sequences, and safety constraints — we translated complex engineering processes into intuitive, execution-ready visuals.

**The Solution.** We delivered two integrated deliverables: detailed maintenance planning drawings mapping tools, equipment, safety protocols, and component locations; and step-by-step instruction drawings that guided crews through each maintenance sequence with clarity and confidence. Every drawing was reviewed, approved, and aligned with the latest industrial safety standards.

**The Impact.** Delivered on time and within budget, the documentation package elevated maintenance accuracy, minimised operational risk, and strengthened communication between engineers and on-ground crews — translating directly into reduced downtime, improved safety outcomes, and measurable cost efficiency.
